Some Weekday Hunting and Antenna Schemes

My poor ten month old daughter is home under the weather today.  It’s nothing too serious but I knew her teachers would send her home and a day with the baby is still a good day even if she’s feeling a bit puny.

While she was napping after lunch,  I managed to work eleven POTA activators on 20m and 30m in just over an hour. Thanks for being out there and giving me a chance to use the antenna and MTR3b at home. This also marked the first use of the N6ARA mini SWR kit. It’s nice to confirm things are working properly without breaking out the NanoVNA.

Our backyard at the apartment is just big enough for a linked dipole for 10, 15, and 20m. While this portion of the inverted v permanent, I have detachable links for 30 and 40m (80m links forthcoming) that I deploy when needed with the help of some line and trekking poles. They stay rolled up and hung up on the fence when off the air.

I’ve got an idea for a portable antenna now. Haven’t seen or heard anything like it, but it’s so stupid simple that it’d be hard to believe it hasn’t been done before.  Sketching things out as we speak.  I hope my suspicions are confirmed and we could have a real winner here.

Anyway,  it’s always a joy to do some serious hunting, especially for fellow ops with a soft spot for 30m.
